Music at St John's

St John's has a varied musical tradition, ranging from traditional hymns and anthems to modern Christian worship songs.  Music of all types plays an important role in our worship.

Traditional hymns are accompanied by the fabulous pipe organ, with keyboards and guitar accompanying the more modern music.

Junior and senior choir

The two choirs meet in church each week and are made up of people of all ages who like singing.  Anyone who wants to take part in this great ministry can join the St. John's Choir - no experience is necessary and you don't need to be able to read music.  The Choirs sing each Sunday during the service and also work on special events such as Christmas and Easter.  In July 2008 they held their first summer concert, which was a great success and raised about 800 for the Alzheimer's Society.  The 2009 concert took place on Sunday 5th July for ellenorlions childrens hospice we raised about 900. .

If you would like to know more about music at St John's, or the choir, please speak to Graham, our musical director (that's him in the blue t-shirt!).  You can contact Graham or Gemma via choir@stjohnserith.org.
